Like me, many of us have internal demons of some type that we are battling within our daily lives.
For some, the trials and tribulations of life cause us so much grief and distress as we attempt to survive.
Others go through a plethora of situations, pitfalls, and traps set by those around them.
There is no direct path away from the negativity that seizes our good nature and often prevents us from moving forward.
Even though circumstances are different for each of us, it is our individual journeys that ultimately determine our wellbeing.
Nevertheless, it is incumbent upon us to strive for a brighter outcome.
If we succumb to that which holds us from achieving our goals, happiness, and success, then we can readily acknowledge personal defeat.
Identifying The Demons We Face
Okay, when I speak of demons, I am not referring to the dreaded sci-fi mystical beings conjured up by someone’s vivid imagination.
For reference, these demons are simply the negative impact of the situations that we encounter in our daily lives.
Procrastination, low self-esteem, alcoholism, and insecurity are a few examples of what I am referring to as demons.
Anything in our path that poses a negative impact, causes us to withdraw, or denies us the opportunity to move forward can be classified as a demon.
Our movements often cause unintended consequences that we failed to calculate at the onset.
Even though the blame falls squarely on us, we may not necessarily be the sole culprit in the matter.
Falling victim to abuses such as child abuse, child molestation, and domestic violence are some common precursors.
For example, a person that has been severely bullied as a child can mature to have some very serious mental issues as an adult.
These mental issues can manifest as violent tendencies or behavior disorders that are even worse.
Billions of people walking this earth and no to are the same.
Neither is the affect of the traumatic experiences that each may fall victim to in their daily life.
Encountering Demons’ Malicious Obstacles
According to some, as each day passes obstacles enter our path to disrupt, destroy, or deny us.
Rarely does a bad thing happen for our benefit, more than likely these issues are to our detriment.
We never plan on running into problems as we go about our daily lives, but according to ‘Murphy’s Law — Shit happens’.
In most instances, the turn of events start out superficial and with the right mindset can be easily dealt with.
However, what is the right mindset?
Who makes that determination?
Generally, we are caught off guard and are rarely prepared to cope with the impending crisis.
Each and every turn that we make plays a vital role in the final outcome of the situation.
For example, a man with a family is terminated from his job for lack of legitimate cause; consequently, his rent is due and he has no savings to fall back on.
Some would argue that it is his own fault for not having an emergency fund to fall back on.
Perhaps, but he and his family were living at or below the poverty line already.
There was no wasteful spending, nights out with the fellas, or high-end dinners out.
They lived completely off of the barely affordable basic necessities.
Living paycheck to paycheck simply because he could find suitable employment paying a fair wage to fully support his family.
Stands to reason, each and every day millions of people face this very same sad and demeaning dilemma as the attempt to survive this hellacious life.
Thirty years ago, life was already considered a struggle; however, today life is a struggle wrapped in a nightmare, rolled in malignancy.
Remember to always proceed through each day with caution.
Demons: Choosing The Correct Path
Without professional guidance, it can be difficult to quickly and correctly achieve the best outcome in certain situations.
Respectfully, most of us would rarely admit to needing professional help with a personal problem.
Pride, embarrassment, or whatever tends to get the way of depending on another to bail us out.
Nevertheless, trusting other could be a factor too.
Until I began writing, I don’t trust anyone behind the facade hiding my life.
Interestingly, I had a mental problem with other knowing how weak, insecure, or inadequate I truly was about my life.
Until now, that fact has always been hard to admit aloud where others could hear it.
Some may ask, why now?
The answer is quite simple, I needed to stop blaming others for my shortcomings in life, in my relationships, and within me.
Yes, I have been broken for a very very long time and it would be hard to put an actual number of years to it.
But I can honestly admit to 30+ years at the minimum.
Incidentally, the concept or idea of being broken is just like anything else in this life.
We all have coping mechanisms that allow us to temporarily fill the void and carry on as if we are whole.
Truth be told, it does not last for forever.
At some point, the beast breaks free from its cage and goes on a rampage in full view for all to see.
During one phase of my life, that became a daily realization that I was forced to live with and acknowledge.
Although I able to suppress the issue without professional guidance, I did not ever actually fix the problem.
Moral of the story, do not be like me.
Finding Proper Professional Guidance
Nope, there are no one stop shop solutions for us to drape ourselves with when fixing our problems.
Special situations require special attention by properly trained people.
We would not employ a dentist to perform brain surgery, nor would we go to a loan shark for financial planning.
Here is a list of requirements:
- Confidentiality
- Area specialist
- Convenience
- Trustworthiness
Confidentiality
Most of us understand that confidentiality is an agreement between parties to not disclose personal or private information and details without consent.
The last thing we want is for someone to discuss our private information with anyone outside who has no connection to us or who has an ulterior motive to misuse the information.
Once information has been disseminated, it can never be contained from spreading far and wide.
Area Specialist
Choosing an area specialist is a key factor in resolving issues quickly and appropriately.
Again, we would not want a dentist to perform brain surgery to remove or repair a problem.
Some professionals can help us identify a problem even if they cannot help us fix it.
Once identified, we can then seek the appropriate professional for corrective measures.
Convenience
Confiding in a friend or family member is not the convenience that we are seeking to help with our issues.
The form of convenience here relates to expedience and suitability to deal with the urgency of our state of affairs.
For one reason or another, family and friends will rarely speak in terms that will cut through to the heart of the matter at hand.
Trustworthiness
Trustworthiness from a professional can prove to be a valuable asset when dealing with personal concerns.
The greater the trust value, the more open and candid we can be when opening up and facing our problems.
The longer it takes to share what we are holding inside, the longer it will take to arrive at a solution.
Seldomly we talk as conversationalist; however, we should always speak to be heard and listen to be understood.
Becoming The Best Version Of Ourselves
Becoming the best version of ourselves requires a great deal of work to achieve any modicum of success.
In fact, drawing out our success will be an incremental process that will take time to completely master.
A certain level of pride will accompany every stride made towards each planned milestone.
Do not be afraid to celebrate the rise to a new plateau.
By the same token, do not be too critical of any failures along the way.
Believe it or not, we learn more from our failures than our instant successes.
Getting it right the first time awards us accolades; however, learning what not to do from our failures gives us experience.
We can best believe that by optimizing all areas of our lives to stimulate growth, minimize distractions, and focus on the goals that we want to achieve will magnify our wellbeing.
We can start by thinking bigger to achieve a higher level of consciousness which in turn will increase our ability to achieve what we want.
Staying motivated will greatly influence our ability to reach for the goals that we set for ourselves.
Believing in ourselves will stave off low self-esteem to prevent us from feeling like a failure or exhibiting low standards.
Time management plays an important factor in elevating to our next milestone.
The organization of our time is essential to bringing out the best in us and helps to manifest our greatness.
We cannot be afraid to try new challenges, explore new adventures, and broaden our horizons.
Tackle the difficult things will improve our ability to excel.
To Sum Things Up
Unfortunately, battling our internal demons is a daily occurrence as we live our lives.
As mentioned above, procrastination, low self-esteem, alcoholism, and insecurity are but a few of the potential demons we face.
Each of the malicious obstacles that we encounter must be addressed in order for us to move forward.
Oh yes, we can survive without out ever tackling whatever is holding us back; however, the cost would be worse.
Letting down our guards to find help is the most selfless act hat we can pursue.
Professionals exist in order to provide us with knowledge, options, and support as we deal with our situations.
Remember, seeking adequate help is not a one stop shop where a broad expertise will be sufficient for specific needs.
Engage with a professional that offers confidentiality, area specialty, convenience, and trustworthiness.
The idea is to become the best version of ourselves.
And I close out by saying, we need what we need!
If we keep our minds right, we can keep our bodies tight!
