About Good Time To Shine

Life gets loud. Your calendar fills up, your brain stays on, and your body tries to keep up. Somewhere in all that noise, it’s easy to forget what “good” even feels like. I know, because I’ve spent a lot of time telling myself I’d take care of me once things settled down. Good Time To Shine is where I stopped waiting and started practicing.

What I’m Doing Here

I’m not a wellness coach, and I’m not writing from the finish line. I’m practicing wellness across eight dimensions, one at a time, and sharing what happens out loud. That includes the weeks that go well and the ones where nothing sticks. Every post shows what I tried, what happened, what I learned, and what I’m trying next. Growth is not a performance, so you’ll see the messy parts too. If you want a five-step fix, this isn’t it. If you want to watch someone figure it out in real time, pull up a chair.

The Practice

It starts with an honest rating of all eight dimensions of my own life, no rounding up. Then I work on the lowest one first, then the next lowest, and keep going down the list. Every lesson is something I actually lived before I wrote about it. Along the way, I’ll circle back to the dimensions I already worked on to see what held. Six months in, I’ll rate all eight again and share how the numbers moved.

The Eight Dimensions

I look at wellness as a whole system, not one habit or one morning routine. The eight dimensions are Physical, Mental, Intellectual, Social, Spiritual, Environmental, Occupational, and Financial. They lean on each other, so when one slips, the others usually feel it. Nobody has to master all eight at once. Most of us are just trying to keep three from collapsing on the same day.

Why “Good Time To Shine”

Because a life is more than a list of tasks. You deserve calm mornings, honest conversations, work that means something, and rest that actually restores you. You deserve a good time, and you deserve to shine while you’re living it. The catch is that most of us put that off until everything’s fixed. This whole site is built on the opposite idea: the joy is for now, not someday.

The Books

Two of my books live here: The Whole Life: Eight Dimensions of a Life Well Lived and Manipulating the Barriers to Personal Wellness. Writing about these dimensions and practicing them every day turned out to be two different things, and that gap is part of why The Practice exists. Both books are available through Negus.Leo Publishing. You don’t need either one to follow along. They’re there if you want to go deeper.

Follow Along

The best way to keep up is to sign up below, follow The Practice here on the blog, or find Good Time To Shine on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest. If you’re working on a dimension of your own, I’d like to hear which one. That’s how this stops being one person’s practice and starts being something we build together.
